The combination of Univer's design and Piab's Coax vacuum technology has enabled a customised vacuum gripper that satisfies the most arduous application. The result is a smaller vacuum unit that is claimed to consume less air than conventional ejectors, while providing up to three times more vacuum flow.
Additionally, the decentralisation of vacuum avoids the pressure loss problems inherent in traditional vacuum systems that use a centrally located vacuum pump.
Univer has worked closely with robot manufacturers and integrators such as ABB to produce a product that can be simply adapted to all palletising applications.
Its objective when producing the customised vacuum solution was to build on the success already achieved in the materials handling, packaging and food industries.
