IChemE announces new books on sustainability, safety and design
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has announced that 25 new technical books have been added to Knovel for members of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in 2022, including books on sustainability, major hazard management and chemical engineering design.
IChemE members have free access to more than 300 leading references and databases via Knovel — an online resource of books, technical information, interactive equations and analytical tools.
New additions will help members embed sustainable principles and practices into their process designs. This includes Process Intensification and Integration for Sustainable Design — this title covers the latest advances in process intensification and integration, with a focus on increasing sustainability via topics such as sustainable manufacturing, energy-saving technologies, and resource conservation and pollution prevention techniques.
Process Safety Calculations (2nd Edition) will equip practitioners and students who need to know how to calculate and predict risks and consequences with further knowledge on major hazard management, such as helping with demonstrating compliance with regulations and directives.
Chemical Reaction Technology was added to IChemE’s Knovel subscription due to member demand. This book will support students and practitioners in thermodynamics, kinetics, mass transfer, separation, environmental and economic issues associated with reaction technology on an industrial scale.
Dominic Foo, Chair of IChemE’s Books Editorial Board, a group of volunteer members who manage IChemE’s book publishing partnership with Elsevier, said: “Knovel is an incredibly popular resource with IChemE members and we will continue to work closely with leading publishers to ensure members are equipped with the best and relevant books to support them in designing and enhancing safe and sustainable products and processes across the wide-ranging sectors the chemical engineers work in.”
Visits to Knovel have been up 34% (91,728) from 68,600 over the same period last year.
Rules of Thumb for Chemical Engineers (6th Edition) was among the popular books on Knovel accessed by members in the past year. This is a complete guide for chemical and process engineers who need reliable, practical solutions to on-the-job problems. Author Stephen Hall also shares some of these solutions in a features series for The Chemical Engineer.
Other popular titles included:
- Coulson and Richardson’s Chemical Engineering Volume 6 - Chemical Engineering Design (4th Edition)
- Volumes 1–3 of Lees’ Loss Prevention in the Process Industries - Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control (4th Edition)
-
Chemical Process Equipment - Selection and Design (3rd Edition).
Each year, books available on Knovel to IChemE members are reviewed and updated to ensure members have access to the latest releases, and to respond to user demand.
Members can view the full range of books and resources on Knovel at www.icheme.org/knovel or upon the Knovel ToGo app.
