Clean TeQ Water secures $1.2 million European wastewater contract
Melbourne-based Clean TeQ Water has announced it has been awarded a $1.2 million contract by Nyrstar for the detailed engineering of an industrial wastewater treatment plant based on its DESALX ion exchange technology, to treat wastewater at one of Nyrstar’s European operations.
The design package is expected to be delivered within 28 weeks from commencement. Following completion of the design work and agreement on final terms, the parties anticipate moving to the project delivery phase, valued at approximately $9.4 million.
The contract was awarded following the completion of successful pilot trials completed at the site using Clean TeQ’s DESALX ion exchange technology.
Over 2023–2024, Clean TeQ Water successfully validated its DESALX technology at one of Nyrstar’s European sites through laboratory and pilot-scale trials. The company says the results demonstrated strong performance, scalability and compliance capability.
DESALX leverages Clean TeQ Water’s Moving Bed Ion Exchange (MBIX) platform — an advanced system that combines the precision of ion exchange with continuous, streamlined operation. Unlike conventional ion exchange processes, MBIX enables highly selective removal of target contaminants with lower chemical use, reduced waste and higher water recovery.
