Firepump workshop
Pump Industry Australia (PIA) is conducting a Firepump Workshop on Fire-pumps to AS 2941-2008 - Fixed fire protection installations. The workshop will be held on 12 May 2010 at the Chapman Room at Crowne Plaza, 30 Phillip Street Parramatta.
The purpose of the workshop is to analyse the recent changes included in AS 2941 and also deal with the interpretation of the requirements to ensure uniform compliance of fixed fire-pump equipment in the Australian market. The workshop is suitable for consulting engineers, fire protection companies, fire-pump packagers, fire authorities and other regulatory bodies within the industry.
Panel Chairman is Harry Katunar (KSB Australia) and presentations will include:
- Requirements of Australian Standards AS2941 by Ken Kugler (PIA) - Member of FP-008 Committee
- Pump Specification ISO 5199 and Pump test code AS2417-2001; Implications for Fire-pumps to AS 2941 by Keith Sanders (PIA)
- Fire-pump Packages - a supplier's perspective by Jeff Greely-Kelair Pumps/Bill Davis-Prime Pumps
- Fire-pumps – a Contractor's perspective by Stephen Trevor - NFIA representative
- Typical compliance criteria for FM installations by Mike Beaumont - FM Global
Each presentation will be followed by a question and answer session in an effort to obtain a consistent interpretation of the standard across industry boundaries.The workshop will be followed by a fire pump test demonstration at the Kelair test facility.
