element14 Community launches industrial automation design challenge

element14 has announced it has joined forces with Schneider Electric in launching the ‘Experimenting with Industrial Automation Design Challenge’ competition. The company says the competition is a call to action for engineers, makers and tech enthusiasts to dive deep into the world of industrial automation and unleash their creativity.

Industrial automation is a cornerstone of modern industry, streamlining manual processes to enhance productivity across a wide range of applications, from manufacturing to logistics. Now, element14 Community members have a unique opportunity to showcase their innovative skills in this domain.

The challenge provides participants with a comprehensive kit of industrial automation components, allowing them to design experiments that explore the implementation of various industrial processes. Whether it’s painting, cutting, drilling, conveying, assembling, material handling, packaging, inspecting, testing or welding, this challenge invites participants to push the boundaries of automation.

“We are thrilled to launch the Experimenting with Industrial Automation Design in collaboration with Schneider Electric,” said Randall Scasny, Senior Community Content Specialist at element14. “This challenge empowers our community members to experiment, learn and create, all while harnessing the power of industrial automation components.”

The challenge is open to all element14 Community members, with free registration to the element14 Community available here.

The application period is open now and will close on 15 December, with the selection of applicants taking place on 22 December. Challengers are required to submit their projects and blogs by 28 February 2024, and the winners will be announced in March 2024.

Prizes for the challenge include:

  • Grand Prize: The overall winner will receive an Arbitrary Waveform Generator and Rework Station from Multicomp Pro, with both items totalling approximately $1200 in value.
  • Runner-up Prize: The runner-up will be rewarded with a Bench Digital Multimeter from Multicomp Pro as well as a Smart LED Starter Kit from Philips, with both items totalling approximately $600 in value.
  • Finisher Prize: All challengers who complete the competition (excluding the grand prize winner and runner-up prize winner) will receive an Amazon Echo Dot Smart Speaker.
