  • Optimising motion control — getting the most from resolvers
    For engineers who design motion control systems that operate in hostile environments, the biggest headache is finding hardware that will give them accurate position data on moving machine elements. Many new sensing devices simply cannot function reliably under rugged conditions. In this situation, the engineer’s best option is a tried-and-true feedback sensor that has been available since the 1940s — the resolver.

The device is suitable for providing position feedback on hydraulic cylinders in factories and utilities, gate position in fresh or wastewater distribution systems or valve opening in process-related applications.
  • Turck IM21 rotational speed interface module
    Turck has enhanced its interface module (IM) family with the FM approved IM21 rotational speed interface module, programmable via push-buttons or using a PC - which simplifies device set-up and saves installation time. The modules employ FDT/DTM software, together with PACTware, enabling users to efficiently set and save multiple application parameters.
  • Hengstler ACURO-XR series multi-turn encoders
    The Hengstler ACURO-XR series encoders are claimed to be capable of withstanding high acceleration rates, mechanical stresses and extreme climatic fluctuations, and are fully functional in underwater operating conditions. Their operating temperature range is from -40 to +100°C.
  • AMCI stainless steel resolvers
    AMCI’s stainless steel resolver transducer family offers options of 303 or 304 stainless steel housing and shaft, and a variety of mounting styles. The IP67-rated product line comes standard with either a 1/4, 3/8 or 5/8″ stainless steel shaft and an oversized double row sealed bearing.

  • Macrosensors RSE 1500 Series rotary position sensors
    The RSE 1500 Series rotary position sensors from Macrosensors are contactless, fractional-turn, absolute output rotary position sensors providing an analog output voltage proportional to shaft rotation over a total range of up to 120°.
  • Magnetic linear encoders
    Turck has introduced a line of Kübler robust magnetic linear encoders. Utilising A and B output voltage channels plus a periodic index with the corresponding inverted channels, these encoders are designed to achieve high accuracy in a broad range of linear motion applications. The T8.LI20 and T8.LI50 linear encoders are available with either a push-pull output or an RS422 interface and provide a voltage range from 4.8 to 30 VDC.
  • Optical encoders
    Turck has released the Kübler F36 optical encoder series, designed completely without gears to eliminate wear and sensitivity to magnetic fields. F36 absolute encoders feature a compact size of 36 mm with a hollow shaft diameter of up to 10 mm, making them suitable for drive engineering and medical applications.
  • Shaft encoders with additional ethernet protocols
    Fraba/Posital, represented by PCA in Australasia, has extended the range of ethernet protocols supported in its family of absolute shaft encoders.
  • Motion monitors
    The DZ260 series motion monitors from Motrona have been designed as control modules for mounting inside motor control cabinets.
  • Pulley alignment system
    The Fixturlaser PAT is an easy-to-use, laser-based pulley alignment device. It can be used with V-belts, Poly-V belts and optionally with timing belts.

    TechRentals has introduced the Emerson 375 Field Communicator into its rental fleet.
  • Electric rotary actuators
    Exlar has announced the Tritex II Series electric actuators, offering 1500 W AC powered operation and digital position control within a single, space-saving housing.
  • Magneto-resistive encoder
    The MR2 magneto-resistive encoder is designed as a positioning and speed control solution for medical, security and access, industrial automation and electronics assembly related applications. For machine builders in these industries, a system design can be implemented with a lower line count of 128 lines for first-generation products and upgraded to a higher resolution line count of 512 lines for future-generation products, without any motor-encoder assembly change.
  • Incremental encoder expansion modules
    Motrona has extended its range of incremental encoder expansion modules to include four and eight channel DIN rail mounted modules with individually optically isolated output channels.
  • Encoders
    The AFM60 absolute multiturn encoder from Sick Stegmann has improved ruggedness and 30-bit resolution. Its smaller brother, the AFS60 absolute single-turn encoder, provides a resolution of 18 bits.
  • Rotary encoders
    The Osisense rotary encoders are now open to fieldbus communication including a version fully compatible with CANopen and Profibus-DP networks.
  • Linear position sensor
    The Positek A111 LIPS (linear inductive position sensor) is ANZEx approved for use in potentially explosive gas, vapour and dust atmospheres and mining environments. The A111 is a durable, high-accuracy position sensor, designed for industrial and scientific feedback applications. The unit is highly compact and space-efficient, being responsive along almost its entire length.
  • Hall sensor amplifier
    With fully programmable features, this hall sensor amplifier is specifically engineered to optimise the performance of Portescap’s brushless motors in applications where efficiency, high acceleration or safety are of primary significance.   • Quadrature encoder and counter module
    The ADAM-5081 is a high-speed quadrature encoder and counter module for use with the ADAM-5550 series programmable automation controllers (PACs) form Advantech. The ADAM-5081 has a high isolation of 2500 VDC, a high-speed frequency mode (5 Hz–1 MHz), and a counter code at 1 MHz.

    Eltra has released a range of flange-mounted incremental shaft encoders constructed from stainless steel. They have been designed specifically for application in mining, offshore installations, cranes and winches, food and beverage manufacture and other applications where corrosion can be a problem.

    PCA has released the Fraba/Posital magnetic multi-turn shaft encoders.
