The DDW-120 utilises SHDSL transmission technology, allowing existing twisted pair cables to be used to establish a high-speed remote connection between two ethernet networks. With transfer rates up to 5.7 Mbps and an operating distance of up to 15 km at lower data rates, this is an easy-to-install alternative to fibre-optic or radio systems when linking remote ethernet networks.

The managed Fast/Gigabit Ethernet switch of the MACH1000 family from Hirschmann Automation and Control has all its ports with the exception of a service port located on the rear of the device. The 24 Fast Ethernet ports, up to four of which support PoE, are available with M12 connections as well as in any combination for other connectors such as MTRJ, St, SC or RJ45.
