Creating an effective plant lubrication program
14 June, 2009 by Paul Dufresne, CMRP, CPMM, Trico CorporationThe goal of every lubrication program should be to ensure that all equipment receives and maintains the proper levels of lubrication such that no equipment fails due to inadequate or improper lubrication.
High-torque tooth clutches
09 June, 2009 byNexen 5H Series tooth clutches deliver fast, no-slip engagement for washdown applications where high torque is required. The completely enclosed tooth clutches provide positive torque transmission and feature a nickel-plated exterior and rotary seal to withstand wet, corrosive environments common to food and beverage processing applications.
Gear reducers
09 June, 2009 byBaldor has announced an expanded size range and multiple configurations for the Dodge MagnaGear XTR reducer. The reducer is designed for reliability, ease of maintenance and high performance in tough, high-torque applications.
Gearmotor solutions
18 May, 2009 byThe W37 and W47 right-angle gear unit ranges from SEW-Eurodrive were launched at National Manufacturing Week this year. They are the latest additions to the company’s 7 Series range of modular geared motor solutions and feature gear ratios as low as 3.2.
Extended bearing distance gearboxes
18 May, 2009 bySEW-Eurodrive has introduced a family of locally assembled gear units. Featuring an extended bearing distance (EBD), the EBD MC Compact series helical and helical-bevel gear units have been engineered to absorb the high bending moments and axial forces that occur in mixer and agitator applications. The EBD MC Compact range is fully assembled in Australia, ensuring SEW-Eurodrive can provide fast turnaround on complete gear-unit packages.
Gear units
11 May, 2009 bySEW-Eurodrive has extended its X-Series of industrial gear-units. Comprising 15 models — each with a different torque-rating — the SEW-Eurodrive X-Series allows users to closely match an X-Series gear-unit to their application. The X-Series features helical and helical-bevel gear technologies, which deliver torques from 58,000 to 475,000 Nm.
Gearboxes and bearings reduce a quarry’s energy and maintenance costs
09 April, 2009Conveyor uptime has increased dramatically at Corcoran Concrete’s quarry in County Mayo, following a switch to Dodge-brand gearboxes and bearings from Baldor.
Bonfiglioli gains Australian assembly line
17 March, 2009Bonfiglioli has commissioned a complete assembly and testing line dedicated to HDP parallel shaft and HDO bevel helical gearboxes.
Zero backlash couplings
11 March, 2009 byWhen fitting stepper motors, servomotors, gearboxes and encoders to machines, care must be taken to ensure all devices are co-axial (no angular or parallel misalignment). Failure to do so will place excessive loads on bearings and reduce the life of the components. Using flexible couplings with some angular and parallel compliance will ensure this while maintaining constant velocity and low backlash. The Bervina flexible couplings are constructed from a one-piece aluminium, steel or stainless steel section. There no wearing parts to require lubrication and they are constant velocity.
Slew drive rings
01 December, 2008Slew drive rings are a design concept that integrates a worm drive gear with a slew ring. This product is suitable for use with high torque hydraulic motor or geared electric motors.
Gearboxes
05 October, 2008SG worm gearboxes from Dunkermotoren are noted for their quiet running. The worm-gear shaft has bearings on both sides. The gear components, made of bronze or steel, and the lubrication ensure a long service life at the rated torque.
Planetary gear
05 September, 2008With the ability to continuously transmit torques up to 160 Nm, the planetary gears in this range are suitable for the recently introduced BG75 brushless DC motor.
Gearbox for mixing applications
07 August, 2006 by Ian Tribe, Nat'l Product Mgr, Industrial Gear Units, SEW-Eurodrive Pty LtdInnovative gear unit solutions form the backbone of a customised gearbox capable of absorbing the high bending and axial forces that occur in agitator/aerator applications
