Siemens TIM 3V-IE DNP3 and TIM 4R-IE DNP3 remote access modules

Monday, 05 March, 2012 | Supplied by: Siemens Ltd

Two new communication modules have been added to the range of remote access solutions offered by Siemens. The TIM 3V-IE DNP3 and TIM 4R-IE DNP3 modules enable PLCs of the Simatic S7-300 and S7-400 series to be controlled and monitored over different communication networks, such as 3G, 4G mobile and ethernet-based networks. The second interface enables communication over classic serial networks.

The modules support the open DNP3 protocol for communication with the control centre. Extensive diagnostics functions are available to users, including logging the sent and received message frames. It is also possible to program S7 controllers that are connected to the modules remotely over an IP-based network, which can reduce on-site service visits.
