Fieldbus Foundation establishes Australian marketing committee

Monday, 30 November, 2009

The Fieldbus Foundation has announced the establishment of the Fieldbus Foundation Australian Marketing Committee (FF AMC). The committee has been established to promote the benefits and adoption of Foundation technology throughout the Australian market. Foundation technology benefits include reduced wiring and installation costs, easy integration with asset management systems and savings in operations and maintenance.

The first FF AMC committee was established at a meeting of local vendors held in Melbourne during August with Fieldbus Foundation representatives Hisashi Sasajima, Vice President for Asia Pacific, and Shane Parr, Chairman of the Asian Pacific Executive Advisory, in attendance to provide support to the committee and share their vision for Australia.

The foundation has been championed in Australia for many years by the Foundation Fieldbus End Users’ Council, however, the foundation feels that a separate marketing committee would provide a supplementary function and more focused approach to promotion of the technology. Such a structure is similar to that existing in many other countries within the region and the rest of the world.

At its inaugural meeting, the FF AMC nominated and elected a board to be chaired by Tom Rolton of Emerson Process Management. Tom Rolton, as chairman, will be assisted by committee members Shaun Loesch of ABB, Lindsay Hadland of Yokogawa and Andrew Sia of Rockwell Automation. Other local participating companies include Honeywell, Moore Industries, MTL, NHP, Pepperl+Fuchs and Wika.

The FF AMC welcomes new members and invites all Fieldbus Foundation vendors that may be interested in joining the committee to contact Tom Rolton by email at tom.rolton@emerson.com or Shaun Loesch at shaun.loesch@au.abb.com.
