EMEX 2008 "a monster success"

Monday, 26 May, 2008

EMEX 2008, New Zealand’s largest engineering and machinery industry showcase held in Auckland 6–8 May, was a great success, according to feedback from both visitors and exhibitors.

“It’s been a monster success,” said organiser dmg world media’s sales manager Rob Lavender.

“A lot of people from all parts of the industry worked really hard to make EMEX a must-do for anyone working in industrial engineering and maintenance, control and instrumentation, machine technology, plant automation and monitoring, welding, forming and cutting, software and computerisation.”

With 160 national and international exhibitors and more than 6100 qualified professionals participating over the three days, EMEX 2008 was the best so far. The show is recognised as key for New Zealand among engineering trade events, attracting visitors from Afghanistan, Australia, Fiji, India, Japan, New Caledonia, South Africa and the UK.

"We always look closely at the quality of sales leads generated and the level of business being conducted at the show. On both counts the feedback we have already received from exhibitors is extremely positive as they now start to follow up on leads generated over the three days,” said Lavender.

“We also gauge the value reported by visitors and this, too, was very positive.”

Don Blue, business development manager of exhibitor A & G Price, said the company is pleased with the value it got from EMEX.

“The sales and marketing team at A & G Price were a little nervous about the real value of committing a significant amount of money and time into an event like this, especially when we aren’t engineering machinery manufacturers or resellers. However, after the opening morning we were convinced that it was a wise investment,” he said.

Wendy Fulton, of exhibitor Tradetech New Zealand, was also happy with the results of the show.

“The organisation at EMEX was great. Our corner stand was a fantastic site, the communication and organisation from dmg world media worked very well and all three of our companies picked up some very promising leads.”

Show organiser Rob Lavender said work was already underway to make EMEX 2010 "even bigger, better and more successful”.
