Seeq partner Nukon develops asset predictive analytics solution for TasWater

Seeq partner Nukon Pty Ltd, an Australian company focused on manufacturing data intelligence, has been invited to attend the OSIsoft user conference, PI World, on 23–27 April in San Francisco to present its advanced analytics solution that it built for TasWater. PI World attracts more than 1000 attendees from around the globe to learn from industry leaders like Nukon. Along with other presenters, Nukon is developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems faced by customers.

Andrew May, Senior Consultant at Nukon, will co-present with Matt Jordan, Manager of Network Asset Performance at TasWater, on the topic of smart sewer analytics. A key challenge for this industry is managing sewer blockages occurring in the mains system to prevent spills. Often the first notification of a spill comes from a member of the public, hours and sometimes days after the incident. This can intensify public health and environmental impacts, while driving up the cost of clean-up efforts.

Nukon leveraged historical data in TasWater’s OSIsoft PI System using an advanced analytics application from Seeq. Nukon delivered a proof-of-concept and solution, specifically a detection model for Midway Point’s sewage pumping stations and surrounding areas.

“The solution has already demonstrated value in detecting abnormal operating conditions in the sewerage network trial area, beyond the capability of previous methods,” said Jordan.

“The solution is integrated with PI notifications for early alerting. This allows for faster time-to-insight on time-series data, reduced time spent in spreadsheets and process improvements leading to better operating efficiencies,” said May.

“We are excited that Seeq could contribute to a solution for TasWater. Nukon’s data-driven approach and the collaborative nature of their engagements with customers is a hallmark of their success, along with the creative use of our solutions,” observed Michael Risse, CMO and VP at Seeq.
