Ethernet-to-serial converter

The JS100 ethernet-to-serial converter is designed to allow communications over point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio channels with remote devices, such as RTUs or PLCs that have ethernet data ports.

The JS100 ethernet-to-serial converter operates as a standalone device inserted between the ethernet device or application and the serial RS-232 data port of the radio modem. Ethernet data is compressed and packetised into RS-232 frames, which are then fed into the data radio modem for transmission over the radio network.

The JS100 also takes advantage of the MultiStream and ChannelShare features of the Trio Datacom E and K Series data radios so that a single radio network can support multiple applications using both serial and IP-based protocols such as DNP-3, MODBUS, and IEC68570-5.

Easy to install, the JS100 requires minimal configuration apart from assigning an IP address for accessing the HTML interface to provide diagnostics and connectivity testing.

When paired with the E or K Series data radio, the system designer can accommodate both serial (RS-232) and ethernet devices within the same system.
