The SA40082 is a 3-channel digital signal conditioner from Spectron Systems Technology. Originally designed as an integral tri-axis electronic inclinometer, this versatile signal conditioning module can be used in various other applications.

The SA40082 tri-axial signal conditioner is able to interface to a variety of electrolytic tilt sensing elements. The SA40082 also incorporates onboard temperature and linearity correction, meaning it is capable of supplying high accuracy measurement data over widely varied angular ranges.

The SA40082 tri-axial signal conditioner requires a DC voltage input of between +3.3V and +9V, and an input current of 11 mA. The output is RS232, and has a range of 8000 counts. The response time is at 25 ms, while bit rate is 19,200 bps. The unit has temperature sensor resolution of 0.1  °C, and can operate in temperatures of -20 to 70  °C.

The RS232 communication protocol is easily read via the serial port of a PC, or by direct interface to a microcontroller. For space-restrictive applications, the sensors may also be remotely mounted.
